Ares creates a facade of hyper masculinity in order to protect himself from the intensive vulnerabilities that this guy feels. The disowned tenderness and lenience that is his internal child have to be contacted and freed in order for him to be entire. In myth, Ares was locked as a child in a bronze jar and not quite died. Hermes rescues him at the final pont of time.
