Tyler was instantly impressed by Master Barrett. He’d not at any time met anyone like him in advance of. Barrett appeared to be so sophisticated and handsome, beautifully presented in his expensive costume and smelling recent and clean in the filthy, summer air.
Tyler couldn’t make no doubt of the way that Barrett spoke to him. The mature dude was kind, interested and laughable. He made Tyler feel important; a sensation this chab wasn’t sure he’d ever felt previous to. And yet, the greater quantity Tyler looked at Barrett, the greater quantity embarrassed this chab felt. Questions filled his head. Why was this gentleman taking the time to speak to him? Why did this chab just now feel so safe in his company? Why did his heart pound so hard when Barrett held his gaze?
The Boy Tyler had had a gorgeous bad begin in life. His problems mostly boiled down to an overwhelming sense that this guy didn’t fit in. He came from a big family where that guy always felt not quite entirely invisible, and that guy discovered it hard to make allies at school. He acted up a lot, mostly for attention, and when that didn’t work, that guy simply withdrew from the world.
